Adopt

Adopt your new best friend

Our priority is finding the right home and best possible match for each animal.

How it works

Steps to adopting a pet

  • Please read our adoption process information and animal bios thoroughly before applying. Start by reviewing the information about our adoption programs and the specific animal you are interested in before submitting an application.
  • Applications are reviewed based on our volunteer availability and may take time to process.
  • Adoption is not first come, first served. Applications are reviewed based on the specific animal you are applying for.
  • If approved, our Adoption Coordinators will contact you to discuss the next steps.
  • All dogs and cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Foster to Forever puppies are spayed or neutered at 16 weeks of age.
  • Submitting an application does not guarantee an adoption or promise that you will be approved for a particular animal.

Good to know

Not every application is approved. Our priority is the best possible match for both the animal and the adopter, so housing, landlord approval, lifestyle, and overall fit all matter.

Most of our adoptable cats and all of our adoptable dogs live in foster care, not at the Adoption Center.

Shy or reserved animals, especially dogs, may need multiple meetings. LAWS may decline or pause any adoption that is not in the animal's best interest.
