The whole reason we do this: animals home, for good.
Seeing the animals we have loved and cared for thriving in their forever homes is one of the most heartwarming parts of rescue. We are honored to share these Happy Tail stories from our LAWS adopters.
In November 2018, LAWS took on the rescue of 129 cats from a Laramie trailer park.
Most of them were feral or semi-feral. We trapped every one, housed them in a barn, and cared for them there every single day for four months while we worked through placements and rescue transfers. It is the largest thing this organization has ever taken on, and it took an extraordinary number of volunteers to do it.
Two of those cats, Annie and Grizzie, went home with Reta on 14 July 2019 as barn cats.
“We got the cats a little over 7 years ago. Annie and Grizzie are gradually getting trimmed up from winter, such nice cats. Don’t want inside but let us pet and trim up bit by bit.”

Seven years on, they are safe, they are healthy, and they are loved. They still have no interest whatsoever in coming indoors, and that is exactly the point. They found the home where they get to live on their own terms, with someone happy to work through a winter coat a little at a time.
129 cats. Four months of daily care. More volunteers than we can count. And an update seven years later. This is why we do what we do.
